LaFrance Autoworks, Inc. is a provider of advanced technology products for the aftermarket automotive industry. LaFrance Autoworks was established in 2005 to address the demand for restyling products that use advanced technology for convenience and aesthetics. The company set out to change the way the automotive industry integrates advanced technology into the cars. LaFrance Autoworks focuses on design, development and manufacturing of advanced technology products for the automotive industry with a focus on style and aesthetically pleasing integration of advanced technology into the car. The initial product is Magic Touch, touch sensitive automotive door handles that allow a car owner to replace the OEM door handle with one that is smooth with the surface of the door and opens the car door with the touch of the hand. In addition, other products are in development that use touch sensitive switches to replace interior controls.
The Magic Touch handles give the car the clean look by removing the original handles without having to perform any bodywork or repaint the doors. And with just the Magic Touch, the handle detects the presence of their hand without any pressure or moving parts and pops open the door.
Magic Touch is the first of a series of products from LaFrance Autoworks. It was introduced to the Automotive Trade industry at SEMA 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 1st. It was featured on several cars at SEMA including, the Overhaulin ’05 Dodge Magnum “Fiery Brit”, as well as West Coast Customs (known for Pimp my Ride) Chrysler 300 2-door coupe. And a Mitsubishi Eclipse built by Street Concepts for Pepsi Cola.
Also on November 1st , Magic Touch was introduced to the consumer world on a national television show on The Learning Channel (TLC) called Overhaulin with Chip Foose Chip Foose of Foose Design, the most noted car designer in the automotive industry today, states that “Magic Touch is the first new innovative product that I’ve seen for a while, This product allows anyone to get rid of the unsightly factory door handles, and get the clean shaved handle look without having to do any bodywork.”
Magic Touch was also featured on the Speed channel in December. Since SEMA articles have been written in Forbes Auto, Detroit News, Street Truck, Sport Truck, Dupont Registry’s Celebrity Car as well as several others. Since it’s introduction at SEMA in November 2005, we have received over 40 applications to become resellers of the product and received orders from end-users as well as direct from auto manufacturers. We are in discussion directly with three auto manufacturers at this time.
LaFrance Autoworks has a list of products under development that incorporate touch Sensitive as well as other technologies. Magic Touch and other LaFrance Autoworks products are available from select resellers, installers, dealers and distributors.
LaFrance Autoworks seeks growth capital for Stage III operations, production, sales and marketing. The company founders have funded Stage I and Stage II product development, test marketing, and initial marketing. Since these early stages have been completed the company is able to reach profitability in a short period of time.
