Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I purchase Magic Touch door handles?

A: Check with your local dealer or custom installer. Also, check a current listing of dealers on the web site www.lafranceautoworks.com. The product can also be purchased on the web site.

Q: How do I install it?

A: The Magic Touch handles are designed to bolt into the factory mounting holes of the original door handle. No bodywork is necessary. The electronics are mounted in the door panel and wired in.

Q: What if you don't currently carry a model for my car?

A: New models are becoming available every month. Please email in your request to sales@lafranceautoworks.com. You can be one of the first to have Magic Touch on your model of car. You can also start with a window sensor and then replace the handle when it becomes available.

Q: What if my car already has shaved door handles?

A: Our Magic Touch system also comes in a clear window sensor version; it's virtually invisible. Instead of a door handle sensor we supply you with a clear sensor that adheres to the inside of your window just above the door or in the corner of your windshield or back window. You touch the outside of the glass where the sensor was placed on the inside of the glass to open the door.

Q: What if I want to completely mold it in?

A: The Magic touch door handles can be molded in making them completely invisible using any body compound.

Q: Are the door handles always active or unlocked?

A: No. The handles work with the keyless entry system. When the car is unlocked the handles are active. When the car is locked the system is deactivated.

Q: Do the doors open for anyone's touch or just a specified user?

The Magic Touch door handles are active to any human touch when the car is unlocked and the system is enabled. It functions like a regular door handle would, if the car is locked it will not open and if the car is unlocked the door will open.

Q: What if my car doesn't have a keyless entry system?

A: It will also work with any aftermarket keyless entry system.

Q: What happens if the battery dies, can I still get into my car?

A: We offer an optional backup battery system that powers the keyless entry system and the touch sensitive door handles. Even if the car battery is dead, your keyless entry and Magic Touch door handles work.

Q: Is the sensor affected by weather conditions?

A: The circuit is inactive when the car is locked. But if it is left unlocked in the rain the handle sensor has a rain sensor and adjusts to other weather changes such as temperature, humidity, and the surrounding continually. The sensor will detect the touch of your hand even in heavy rain.

Q: What other products do you make?

A: Magic Touch, touch sensitive door handles are the first in a line of new touch sensitive products from LaFrance Autoworks. Visit our website www.lafranceautoworks.com on a regular basis for new product announcements.
